About the Collective

Konstnärernas Kollektivverkstad Textiltryck Malmö is a professional production facility for textile art, design, and crafts. The association was founded in 1983 with the shared vision of creating better conditions for artistic textile production. Today, the workshop serves as a natural meeting place where the exchange of knowledge and peer interaction foster both artistic innovation and a sense of community.

The association was founded in 1983 by four textile artists, Ellen Odin, Tora Greve, Birgitta Nilsson Schlick and Dyveke Zadig, who shared the vision of creating better conditions for artistic textile production by providing a well-equipped workshop with large printing tables that enabled large-scale projects. Since then, the workshop has evolved into a natural meeting place where knowledge exchange and collegial interaction contribute to both artistic innovation and community. The collective is characterized by an ever-present curiosity to collectively deepen expertise in both experimental and well-established techniques.

In a society that recognizes the inherent value of culture, working artists play a central role, and artistic freedom becomes a measure of our ability to imagine a generous and open society. For many artists, collective workshops are the only way to professionally practice their craft. As such, these workshops are vital for the continued existence of our open society.

At Textile Printing Collective Malmö, everything from monumental works, public decorations, and theatre costumes to hand-printed textiles, unique utility items, and small-scale test prints are created. Here, artistic innovations and experimental expressions coexist with historical techniques.

We are proud of the textile history that the workshop represents and how, since 1983, we have collectively worked to strengthen the position of textile art, design, and craftsmanship.
